Our neighbor, Mrs. Moore is an old artist, who lives alone with her cat Taffy. Her husband passed away years ago and her children work in other cities. Mrs. Moore always wears a serious look but in fact she is a very nice neighbor. She does three things every day — petting Taffy, painting and baking, among which baking is the part I like. Whenever the mouth-watering smell gets over the fence, I could expect a paper bag containing delicious cookies to be passed over the fence and shared by my sister Jennifer and me. To return this favor, my dad would mow the lawn (修剪草坪) for Mrs. Moore and help repair the water pipes.
Last year, Dad put his idea of building a tree house for us in our back yard into action. Dad shot from the hip (干事利落) and got everything in place within two weeks. It was a yellow tree house with red roof, which made a great place for Jennifer and me to get out of the sight of Mom and Dad to have fun and talk about our girlish matters. We couldn’t wait to get in only to find Taffy had taken occupation of it and messed up the inside. We ourselves were unwilling to talk about such a problem to our nice neighbor, but we had no other choice. Dad was the one we sent to Mrs. Moore’s house for a friendly talk about the issue.
After the talk, Dad took Mrs. Moore on an inspection of the tree house, at which she was extremely astonished, saying she had never expected Taffy could be so fascinated with it. She promised to take care of the problem but to our disappointment, the cat could still find ways to climb over the fence and get into the tree house. After a thousand apologies to us, Mrs. Moore gave the problem a careful consideration and came up to a big decision: In view of Taffy’s obsession (痴迷) with a tree house, why not build one specially for him?

参考答案
Mrs. Moore bought a ready-made one from an Internet store and had some workers fix it up in her garden. The tree house in the shape of a bird’s nest with the bright colors of purple and orange looked great in the garden. Mrs.Moore also put cat toys and cat food in it to make sure Taffy would be attracted. When we saw it, we started to feel jealous of Taffy. However, in anticipation of all of us, the cat didn’t want to pay a single visit and wouldn’t stop coming to our tree house, no matter how much effort Mrs Moore put into making it attractive.
Mrs. Moore racked her brains (绞尽脑汁) and worked out a plan to exchange our tree houses. In order to attract us to the tree house, she painted beautiful pictures on the walls and put cosy cushions inside. Sure enough, unlike the silly cat, we were wise enough to decide it was much better than our tree house and an agreement was made on the spot. We finally realized our dream of having a private paradise.Wecouldn’t be happier to have Mrs.Moore as our neighborand we couldn’t love her more.
